II Meeting for Mechanical Engineering Alumni
70 people attended the II Meeting for Mechanical Engineering Alumni held in Quito last November 15th. During the meeting the attendees were asked to answer a questionnaire that will allow the Mechanical Engineering major to redirect the mechanical engineering student's profile and redesign the curriculum.
William Diaz, the mechanical engineering director, welcomed the alumni to the meeting and invited them to keep in touch with UPS since these meetings are beneficial for both parties. Fausto García, UPS professor, presented a computer program that will allow the university to easily save and update the alumni's information.
Pablo Almeida, who is in charge of monitoring the alumni, presented the areas in which the UPS graduates are currently working in as well as the position they hold. Carlos Baldeón, President of the Pichincha Mechanical Engineering Association, spoke about the perspectives of the development of mechanical engineering in Ecuador; while Francisco Calle, former UPS student, explained the several applications that Mechanical Engineering has in the oil industry.
Ximena Llano, the current alumni president, suggested there to be an association outside the university to help and support connection with the university.
