The civil engineering undergraduate program in our branch campus in Quito, as part of the Friedman Family Visiting Professional Program from EEIR, California, invites professors and students to take part in the Conference: “Earthquake Safety for all: the challenge of reducing seismic risk in developing countries”, led by Jorge Meneses.
The conference will address climate change, community resilience to earthquakes and the problems associated with international economic and social vulnerabilities, as well as the importance of a global effort so that no country is left behind and earthquake resilience can be achieved for all.
Biography
Jorge Meneses is a Geotechnical Engineer at RMA Group. He is a member of the California Seismic Safety Commission appointed by Governor Brown and confirmed by the State Senate. He is a seismic ground movement reviewer for the seismic design of tall buildings for the City of San Diego, part-time professor at San Diego State University, member of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE). He has professional experience in the United States, Japan, Peru, India and Mexico. He has been involved in numerous projects as a technical leader in earthquake geotechnical engineering throughout the country.
