IEEE student branch in Cuenca celebrated its 14th anniversary

The IEEE student branch campus in Cuenca held a virtual ceremony to celebrate its 14th Anniversary. The ceremony was attended by university officials, professors and students from different undergraduate programs.

Pedro Cordero, president of the IEEE student branch campus in Cuenca, thanked university officials for all their support in order to carry out different activities. He specially thanked former UPS president Javier Herran, who was awarded a recognition certificate.

Father Javier Herrán, thanked the members of the branch for the recognition, encouraged them to continue working so that they continue to grow and fulfill their objectives. He added that sometimes it is not easy to unite love for Jesus and love in technology, but between the love of Jesus and the love of technology there are hundreds of men and women who need the love of Jesus to be expressed in technology. He concluded by noting that it is gratifying to see how students in the university are concerned with finding ways to save energy, to optimize resources, to make mechanics become the cleanliness of society.

Father Juan Cárdenas Tapia, current UPS president, added that celebrating this XIV anniversary of the existence of this student branch allows him to state two things: the first is to always remember how we started, recognize people, recover experiences, identify learning. Secondly and most importantly, to have the possibility of a renewed projection, that is, to continue dreaming, projecting, thinking about how to humanize technology, science, how to conduct research.
