The preventive system: a formula to face the current educational crisis

The following conferences were presented during the second day of the Salesian Education Congress:
 
The Preventive System in times of global crisis and educational emergency "by Fr. José Luis Guzón, Salesian educator at Universidad Complutense de Madrid.
 
"Educational policies and curriculum in the 2020 health emergency", by María Sol Villagómez, vice president of UPS branch campus in Quito. 
 
"Prevention as an educational method in contexts of adversity and educational emergency" by Fr. Juan Cárdenas, UPS president.
 
"Pedagogical transformation in social transformation in a context of global crisis" by Valeria Vasconcelos, PhD in Education at Universidad Federal de São Carlos, Brazil.
 
José Luis Guzón stated that education is the solution to overcome this global crisis and that it is necessary to assess the educational function, having adequate legal instruments and above all with an adequate theoretical scheme.
 
María Sol Villagómez spoke about "educational policies and curriculum in the 2020 health emergency, research that was carried out in 20 institutions in the country to learn how to apply the educational curriculum during the emergency. Fr. Juan Cárdenas, UPS president, said the preventive is a necessary formula to face the educational crisis. "The preventive system recognizes other aspects such as employment, health, and it places the subject as the protagonist of solutions, based on a dialogue with social justice and equity", he stated.
 
Valeria Vasconcelos from UNISAL Brazil presented the topic "Pedagogical transformations in social transformation in a context of global crisis" and stated that every crisis leads to a rupture, "it is a decisive moment of separation and judgment that reveals what needs to change, this It is not only a health crisis, but a crisis of a civilizing model, "he said.
 
In the afternoon, there were discussions on the processes of educational participation in relation to students with disabilities. There was also a debate on the possibilities of access and technological participation in a world of transformations resulting from the global health crisis. Finally, they presented some methodological strategies implemented in during the global crisis as options for change and social transformation of students.
 
Two books were also presented. "Desafíos de la educación salesiana: experiencias y reflexiones desde las IUS", coordinated by María Sol Villagómez, Renato Soffner, Alessio Rocchi and Luis Marquez, members of the IUS Education Group, the Salesian Higher Education Institutions (IUS) and the book "Breve historia del sistema preventivo", written by Prieto Braido, Salesian priest.
 
The first book is about the research results of three important topics: human, pastoral and youth education; educational innovation and education; diversity and interculturality, themes that are presented throughout 17 articles whose authors are 27 professors belonging to 7 IUS from Europe and America, such as Fr. Juan Cárdenas, Fr. Marcelo Farfán, General Coordinator of the IUS; María Sol Villagómez; General Coordinator of the IUS Education Group. The comments were made by Katia Papic from the Cardenal Silva Henríquez University in Chile, Renato Soffner from UNISAL Sao Paulo, Brazil, and Fr. Sabino de Juan López from CES Don Bosco in Madrid.
 
The second book analyzes love - religion - reason as part of the education system, as well as the figure of the teacher, who transmits wisdom and helps reformulate and renew culture. The author reflects on the methodological elements such as being present, assisting, helping, advising, accompanying, encouraging and promoting, essential to understand Don Bosco's pedagogy.
