2020 Technical Chapter Success Case

 

Members of the IEEE students' branch in the university's branch campus in Cuenca attended the Student Branch Regional Meeting (SBRM) organized by IEEE R9 for all branches from Latin American and Caribbean countries. 
 
In the closing ceremony, they awarded participants MGA regional and world recognitions which represent the work and effort of student branches. This year, the student branch from the university's branch campus in Cuenca received several awards:
 
1. Recognition for the best guide
 
Fernando Urgiles Ortiz was recognized as the best guide for his work and support to the student branch.
 
2. Success Case Contest
 
The computer society chapter from the IEEE student branch in Cuenca won second place in the Success Case Contest with their Project "RetroPie" which seeks to improve fine motor skills in children with disabilities. 
 
3. Larry K. Wilson Award
 
The award was given to Jonathan Luzón, former president of the IEEE UPS student branch, to recognize him as an outstanding student in Latin America and the Caribbean for his achievements and contributions to IEEE during the 2019 – 2020 period. 
 
4. Best Student Branch
 
The IEEE students branch in our branch campus in Cuenca was awarded as the best branch in Latin America and the Caribbean. 
 
Fernando Moscoso, vice president of the university's campus in Cuenca, congratulated all the members of IEEE student branch for their hard work and the awards they received, but above all for their work for society and their contribution to making the world a better place.
