To raise awareness in the university community about the reality of indigenous people within the field of higher education, especially the challenges of indigenous women, the university held the online forum "Knowing reality", as part of the campaign: Together for Equality, in our branch campus in Cuenca.

Fernando Moscoso, vice president of our branch campus in Cuenca, stated that the webinar and the campaign are spaces for reflective dialogue that promote respect for interculturality and diversity.

Sebastián Granda, professor in the Quito campus, stressed that discrimination against indigenous students in higher education is affected by several aspects, including academic, policy, permanence and financial.

Rosa Iza, said that "the challenge of an indigenous teacher is not only to teach class, it is to be at the forefront, sit down to talk, have time to listen and help improve people's living conditions."

Finally, Cisne Guaillas, spoke about her experience of having studied at UPS and stressed that the key is to demonstrate what they are capable of and know how to work as a team.

This conference was part of the campaign "Together for equality at UPS", which seeks to reduce discrimination of indigenous students at the university.
