The popularity of women's soccer

The physical education undergraduate program in our branch campus in Cuenca and the university's women's soccer team – Carneras UPS, held a talk titled: Popularity of women's soccer. The aim was to encourage girls to start playing this sport.

Sofia Sanchez, Carneras –UPS, and Fernanda Vasconez, Club Ñañas from the city of Quito, talked about professionalization of women's soccer. They both explained why it is still not a profession in Ecuador. They said we don't have the conditions needed to develop it completely and change the current structures of sports organizations that control professional soccer in the country. They believe the Ecuadorian Soccer Federation overlooks women's soccer.

Psychologists María Noel Givogre and María Teresa Peñaloza analyzed the importance of psychology and pedagogy in a coach of women's soccer, they agreed that currently it is important that trainers of women's soccer players have tools both in psychology and in pedagogy to be able to complement their teaching, since this allows a comprehensive training not only as an athlete but as a person, since you must have special skills to be a coach of women's football.

Finally, Diego Solís and Andrés Zárate, gave a lecture on the didactics of the game in the early childhood education stage, they highlighted that this is one of the most important stages in the training of athletes and that a lot of creativity is required to allow children to be interested in what they do and not get bored, which, in many cases, leads them to abandon sports practice.

Franklin Ramón, director physical education undergraduate program, thanked the speakers and the participants for attending.
