The university signed an agreement with CEDIA and Cartopel which will enable the university's Industrial Technologies Research and Development Group (GIDTEC for its acronym in Spanish) to provide maintenance and prevention of industrial machinery. The project is titled "Early failure detection system for bearings in the press section of the mill using intelligent monitoring of vibration signals".

The project is also part of CEDIA's program titled "Fondo 1a1" whose aim is to strengthen the development of science and technology for a specific problem which has been detected within a company.

The commitment of CEDIA and Cartopel is to make an economic investment in order to contribute to the realization of the project.

Vinicio Sánchez, researcher - professor and coordinator of GIDTEC, together with a team of professionals and students, will work on the creation of the system thanks to the state-of-the-art technology in the university's laboratories. This will represent an exchange of technology that will benefit the participating institutions.

The contributions made by UPS researchers in recent years have been of great importance, since the analysis of new problem-solving techniques have created endless possibilities in the field of science and research.
