The university communication major in Guayaquil held workshops to reinforce students' knowledge and skills; the workshops were aimed at first year students.

These workshops were held after students took an exam which showed certain weaknesses. "Once students took the exam we were able to spot some deficiencies in students which we are working on", said Katiuska Flores", director of the communication major.

Some of the topics being covered are: universal history, reading and radio broadcasting. "The workshops are very useful and we are learning a lot from them", said UPS student Diego Tandazo.

The professors who are in charge are: Bismark Arana, Elier Gonzales, Daniel Oleas and Betty Rodas.

According to Flores, students must master these topics. "It is important for students to take control of these activities which will favor their professional education", she said.
