Program Overview
The Biotechnology program educates students to become professionals in the use, transformation and manipulation of biological resources with ethical responsibility and integral human commitment. They will respond to national and global demands in terms of industrialization, health improvement, increased production, preservation of the environment and ancestral knowledge, being able to take advantage of the immense natural wealth of Ecuador, considering the principles of sustainability and equitable distribution of benefits.

Occupational Outlook
A biotechnology engineer can develop genetic improvements in animal and plant species so there could be specimens with superior characteristics, he /she can formulate innovative drugs, use microorganisms to generate bio inputs for agricultural and industrial use, participate in research processes from a theoretical, empirical and methodological perspective. In addition, they support clinical diagnosis, forensic techniques, or in obtaining biomolecules that have application in the field of human and animal health.
