The photovoltaic solar energy plant

Our branch campus in Cuenca has a photovoltaic solar energy plant which is operational and providing energy all the time. It has an installed power of 12.6 kW and in 2019 it generated 16790 kWh of electricity, allowing considerable economic savings in electrical energy for the university and avoiding emissions of 8.23 tons of CO2.

This year, the use of the plant has reached 15.2%, generating 1333 kWh / kWp on average, which shows the benefits of the plant and its full operation. Two buildings in the university benefit from this plant.

University officials pointed out that the system was built with monocrystalline and polycrystalline modules in a 73 square meter area and is in charge of the Electrical Engineering undergraduate program. In addition, it has an electroline station, which is used to charge vehicles and electric motorcycles which are used by students.

With this project, UPS makes an important contribution to solar energy and electro mobility in Ecuador, just at the beginning of a new era where sustainability and clean energy are projected as a fundamental pillar for the development of future societies.
