Professors and students from the social communication major in UPS-Guayaquil are part of the reading and writing project for prisoners from the Guayaquil CDP detention center.
This project is aimed at training 40 convicts in reading, writing and literature during 4 months (March to June) in order to help develop their communication and interpersonal skills.

The training sessions are led by professors Augusto Rodriguez and Carlos Quezada and supported by the following social communication students: Emanuel Quinde, Evelyn Meza, Mishelle Mora, Dalma Salazar, Dave Zorrilla, Paola Santana, Jennifer Vera, and Joselyn Castro who encourage and try to instill the habit of reading and writing.

Classes will cover creative writing, understanding literary texts, writing stories, poems, chronicles and more. When the training sessions are over, a book with the best written work made by the prisoners who are taking part of the project will be published.
