«Alteridad», a bilingual scientific journal of Universidad Politecnica Salesiana, went up 393 positions in the third edition (2019) of the Ibero-American Network of Innovation and Knowledge (REDIB) Ranking. It is now in 297th place worldwide and 37th in the category of "Education and Educational Research". Alteridad is currently the highest ranked magazine in Ecuador, followed by "ESTOA" Journal of University de Cuenca (global ranking: 354) and Sophia Journal of Universidad Politecnica Salesiana (global ranking: 384).

The objective of Alteridad is to contribute, from the Ibero-American context, to the dissemination and debate of scientific production in the field of Education and its transdisciplinary lines such as Didactics, Educational Management, Educommunication, ICT, Social Pedagogy, among others. Therefore, it is aimed at researchers, teachers, students and other people involved in educational. 

The journal is published in a double version: electronic (e-ISSN: 1390-8642) and printed (ISSN: 1390-325X), in Spanish and English; each one is identified with a Digital Object Identifier System (DOI). All the articles published in «Alteridad» have a Creative Commons Attribution-Noncommercial-Share Alike license (RoMEO blue journal).

«Alterity» is indexed in the Emerging Citation Sources Index (ECSI) of the Web of Science, in the Scientific Electronic Library Online (SciELO), in the Ibero-American Network for Scientific Innovation and Knowledge (REDIB), in the REDALYC Scientific Information System , in the directory and selective catalog of the Regional Online Information System for Scientific Journals of Latin America, the Caribbean, Spain and Portugal (Latindex), in the Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ), in the European Reference Index for the Humanities and Social Sciences (ERIHPLUS), on the Dialnet Portal. It is also evaluated in the Information Matrix for Journal Analysis (MIAR), in the Sucupira Platform - CAPES and by the Integrated Classification of Scientific Journals (CIRC).

The REDIB Ranking is an index made jointly with Clarivate Analytics which not only takes into account the number of annual citations of Ibero-American journal articles in the area of scientific research, but also addresses their subject matter of knowledge. The Ranking addresses several indicators according to the impact that a journal has had in comparison to others, thus becoming a means of analyzing the quality of the journal and its articles.
