The 12th Don Bosco Rugby Seven’s Cup was held on March 4th and 5th in the university stadium in our branch campus in Cuenca.

The opening ceremony was attended by university officials and special guests. There were 4 women’s teams and 12 men’s teams from Esmeraldas, Pichincha, Guayas, El Oro and Azuay. 

The university’s women’s rugby team “Carneras” won the cup after defeating “Jibaras” from the city of Quito 22 to 5. The coach, Kenia Lopez, was happy with the win and stated that they have lost only one of the 12 finals they have played. 

In the men’s category, “Guayacan” from the city of Guayaquil defeated “Yaguares” 21 to 19 and won the tournament. Paola Chasi from “Carneras” and Juan Samaniego from “Guayacan” were voted the best players.
