Simultaneously, our branch campuses in Cuenca, Quito and Guayaquil held the 2nd International Conference on Educational Innovation, organized by the ministry of education on the 4th and 5th of October. 

The conference was attended by Diana Castellanos, undersecretary of Education; Juan Cardenas, UPS president; Sara Jaramillo, director of the Organization of Ibero American States; Paola Jacome, director of “Grupo Faro”; Maria Sol Villagomez, vice president of our branch campus in Quito; Edgar Loyola, director of the master’s degree in Educational Innovation; directors, principals and teachers of several educational institutions. 

UPS President, Juan Cardenas, gave the welcome speech and said that the university is committed to supporting all activities related to educational innovation which implies changes, improvement and research. 
 

The first speaker was Fernando Trujillo, professor at Universidad de Granda, Spain; then representatives from different educational institutions spoke about their experience and proposals and how all stakeholders must get involved: students, teachers, authorities and family. During the second day, the speakers were David Calderon, executive president of “Mexicanos Primero”; and Tamara Diaz, director of education of OEI.

Each campus held talks with members of the university community on innovation in education and exchanged experiences on how to improve education. Finally, they presented a book on memoirs for the construction of an innovation laboratory in Ecuador.
