On October 6th, the university's branch in Quito held two graduation ceremonies for 345 new professionals in its "El Giron" campus. The first ceremony was for students who majored in communication, pedagogy, psychology, applied anthropology, intercultural bilingual education and natural resources biotechnology; the second ceremony for those who majored in business and accounting.

The general board was presided by UPS President Javier Herran, the university's vice president in Quito, Jose Juncosa, the academic coordinator, Patricio Benavides, and faculty directors. "the degree you're getting today does not make you better people, nor wiser than your grandparents, parents or friends. Being a good person is an indispensable requirement to become better professionals and that is why you are all here today, because besides being good students, you are good, kind and wise.
During his speech, Father Herran said that new professionals have the difficult task of making citizens happier, contributing to making the country better and with more opportunities and thinking about how future generations will be lucky to be admitted to a university. He also congratulated professor Maria Sol Villagomez who days ago obtained her PhD degree in Universidad de Campiñas in Brazil

Maria del Carmen Ramirez, director of the communication major, and Mercedes Zapata, director of the accounting major, told graduates to use their knowledge responsibly, that their goals should be coherent with the rights of others and to be creative in their profession.

Maily Toress, who majored in psychology, and Marlene Molina, who majored in business, had the best grade point averages and spoke on behalf of all students. Mayuri Salinas, Raquel Lincango and Fabricio Rauber were awarded certificates for standing out in the development of skills such as social responsibility, inclusion and leadership.
