On May 4th, the university's branch campus in Guayaquil started a new semester, which will be online because of the health emergency around the world. Professors and students have attended training sessions to help them better understand and use the Zoom platform and the university's virtual learning environments.

The university will be using all its technological and pedagogical tools to provide students quality education. "A new phase in salesian education has begun, which encourages us to keep working hard and educate professionals for our country", said Raul Alvarez, vice president of the university's campus in Guayaquil.

For professors, the beginning of this semester represents a great challenge that they are willing to face, they are prepared to handle the digital platforms. "It is something new, but one can learn day by day, it is somewhat challenging but students are happy and motivated", said Manuel Avilés, UPS professors.

Classes will be recorded and available for students so they can access them at any time. "In the virtual learning platform they will carry out academic activities such as workshops, homework, presentations, tests, and other activities", said Carmen Palacios.

Danika Melo, Accounting and Auditing student, points out that this is a new opportunity to learn despite the current situation. "The experience is enriching because in the virtual classes I can ask questions, participate and interact with my teachers and classmates, classes are recorded and I can watch it again".

"I am a new student, but I am eager to start class at the University, perhaps not in the best circumstances due to the health emergency, but we will overcome this situation; meanwhile we have to use what we have from the safety of our homes ", said Yesenia Chacón, Environmental Engineering student.

University officials constantly motivate students to study from home, this experience will be great to help discover new ways of learning with the same academic quality that characterizes this university. "I want to warmly welcome everyone to this semester and may it be full of great success" emphasized Álvarez.
