The affirmative action system of inclusion from intercuturality is a political alternative that significantly contributes to the education of students from indigenous communities and nationalities and shorten the gap of inequality that still exists in reality.

This proposal is part of the doctoral thesis titled "Sistema de acciones afirmativas de inclusión para la política institucional de la Universidad Politécnica Salesiana hacia los estudiantes indígenas de la comunidad del Quilloac, de la carrera de Pedagogía, sede Cuenca" written by Victoria Jara, director of the pedagogy major in the university's branch campus in Cuenca.

The research conducted by Professor Jara responds to the demands of public policies in Higher Education as well as demands of an intercultural context for the inclusion of indigenous students. The study was done with the help of the Quilloac community from Cañar and the aim was to have equality and recognize diversity.

Professor Jara says: "The construction of an affirmative action system of inclusion from interculturality  is an alternative policy based on the country's public policy and the philosophy of Universidad Politecnica Salesiana for the execution of decisions and actions agreed on in the institution, in order to solve socio-educational problems and in this case favor indigenous students from Quilloac who major in Pedagogy in the university's branch campus in Cuenca."

She added that "there will be more activities that are part of the affirmative action system in order to make all indigenous students feel included and motivated to end their professional studies."

UPS has strengths and opportunities for being the first to apply affirmative action for inclusion in higher education. "We learn something every day and we want to encourage students and motivate ourselves to continue doing research", said professor Jara.
