Thanks to the project organized by the Free Software Academic group which allows students to donate computers, Daniel and Michael Reyes Sarmiento, computer engineering students, donated a computer to Anthony Macias, a student with disability who is majoring in business administration in our branch campus in Guayaquil.

The project encourages the university community to help others who are lacking computer equipment for their studies. The idea is to recycle computer equipment to meet other people’s needs.

Students personally deliver the equipment to their new owners, in some cases the Inclusion Support Center (CAI for its acronym in Spanish) reports the needs, in other cases the teachers or students themselves request it.

“I want to thank my parents, the university and the students who donated the computer which will help me do my homework. Thank you to everyone who works in this project”, said Anthony Macias.

Michael Reyes, stated that “It is always nice to be supportive and help others, it motivates me to be a better person”

María Heredero, Anthony’s mother, thanked the Reyes brothers for their donation and everyone in the project that made the donation of the computer for their son possible, “in our house there are four of us who study and we did not have a computer, I thank you all very much”, he added.

“People who have computers, laptops, tablets or equipment that they can donate to help others who really need it, can be part of this project, some can donate a keyboard, others a mouse, others can donate a CPU or the computer screen, we put the equipment together and donate it to students who need it. Usually students with disabilities and / or with low economic resources receive the computers”, said Yahaira Bermeo.
