The automotive engineering undergraduate program and the transport engineering research group in our branch campus in Cuenca held a conference on automotive engineering of hybrid and electric vehicles, which was attended online by about 800 people from Latin America and Europe. The aim was to present advances in the automobile industry.

The conference was held during one week, from the 26th to the 30th of October, some of te topics were:  the role of automobiles in Mobility and Human development; Predictive models for the control of smart stations for charging electric vehicles; The optimal management of the load of hybrid cars, its digital architecture and treatments and the use of embedded systems in automotive applications.

In his speech, Father Juan Cárdenas, UPS president, highlighted the importance of this type of event, which becomes a fundamental pillar of academic learning for students and researchers, there is potential interest of the study of electric vehicles, a field of great impact on the new mobility model. He thanked Fabricio Espinoza, director of the Automotive Engineering program.

The speakers were international experts: Dr. Francisco Izquierdo, Ph.D. professot at Universidad Politécnica de Madrid; Dr Diego Patiño, Ph.D. President of IEEE in Colombia; Dr. Fredy Ruiz Ph.D. professor at Politécnico de Milano; Dr. Giambattista Grousso Ph.D. Professor at Politécnico de Milano; Ms.C. Santiago Orellana, certified developer Lab View and Ms.C. Paúl Ortiz, UPS professor.
