The mechanical engineering major at UPS-Cuenca and the alumni committee, which is presided by Wilman Herrera, invite people take part in several conferences on mechanical techniques. The first conference was on pumps and compressors, it was given by Leonardo Mendez, an industrial advisor who specializes in rotary machines, and Leonardo Ramírez, representative of Multibrand for Latin America.

The event was attended by several university officials such as Cesar Vasquez, UPS-Cuenca Vice President, Luis Garzon, director of the mechanical engineering faculty, and Rene Zumba, who is in charge of monitoring alumni.

The mechanical engineering major plans to hold three more conferences, scheduled as follows: May 12 from 7pm to 8pm "Special Welding" which will be given by William Calderon; June 9, a talk on lubricants, grease and oil given by Mauricio Lobato; and finally on June 23 there will be a talk on "Sandblasting and Peening"
