Seventy-two teachers from Universidad Politecnica Salesiana took part in the Course on Virtual Learning Environments (EVA for its acronym in Spanish) organized by the Universidad San Francisco de Quito, where professors from all Institutions of Higher Education in the country will attend.

The aim of the 120 hour course, which takes place from June 27 to August 14, 2016, is to provide teachers with strategies and teaching tools for the design and development of online tutorials. This course is carried out to comply with the Regulations for Academic Programs on Online studies, Distance mode. There will be 120 hours of training for teachers who have online tutorials, and 500 hours for those who teach through this modality.

Training is done through the virtual platform of Universidad de San Francisco, with the collaboration of the Virtual Academic Unit of Distance Education (UNADEDVI for its acronym in Spanish) that facilitates the development of the EVA Course providing technical support for UPS professors. It is intended that professors dominate the educational process through communication and information technologies; the course provides a theoretical conceptual part on the educational use of technology and a practical part which analyzes and reflects on the process of online tutoring.

"It is a challenge for UPS, and UNADEDVI is working to provide professors training opportunities and technical support. In this case, the methodology is" learning by doing ", change the traditional mindset based on "on campus" studies and learn to be virtual teachers by improving the use of digital tools, "says Pablo Farfan, PhD, director of UNADEDVI.
