May 2015 was the beginning of the university's Coworking StartUPS office, first in the country to implement a new educational model to complement traditional education in the classroom. Once the idea was approved by the university council, they immediately began building the area for the Coworking office. The first office was inaugurated in the university's branch campus in Cuenca, in November, the second office was inaugurated in June, a year later, in the university's branch campus in Quito, and finally the third office in Guayaquil.

The Coworking StartUPS offices support entrepreneurship and encourage cooperative work. During all these years the community of coworkers has increased, it has allowed people to share their experience and knowledge to develop ideas and projects; it has also helped students' personal growth, the Coworking offices have helped students discover and strengthen their skills.

"Coworking represents the people in the university", said Father Javier Herrán, president of the university, people who are full of creativity, perseverance, commitment, and charisma.
Education is based on learning through entrepreneurship camps, workshops, events and the school of mentoring and change management, based on the Salesian style and ethical values; in addition to creating a network of strategic alliances that connect the industry with academia. Currently, there's the participation of approximately 13,655 students from different undergraduate programs in the university's three campuses, 82 teachers, 155 active projects, 28 startups in operation and new Startlabs with resources for design and prototyping.

"Being critical with knowledge in an educational environment guarantees ethical and responsible citizenship to fulfill the University's mission; educating honest citizens and good Christians, not only future professionals with academic excellence, but professionals with the potential to change and transform social reality", stated Juan Pablo Salgado, Head of Research at the university.

Currently, coordinators of every office are planning new events and training sessions; they invite students and professors to join this path of change for the development of ideas and projects that transform society.
