UPS professors attended a training course in Germany

UPS- Cuenca professors Jorge Fajardo Seminario and Luis Marcelo López attended an advanced training course on the use and maintenance of a state of the art polymer injection machine build in the Dr. Boy factory in the city of Köhln- Germany.

This German company is the largest supplier in the world of this type of equipment. Some of the machine’s main features are its capacity to configure the optimum cycle of injection, its low energy consumption through servo motors, the high precision and repeatability of injected products, the ability to conduct quality controls for products, and others.

Universidad Politecnica Salesiana recently purchased this equipment, and it is now available for teaching and conducting research in mechanical engineering, mechatronics, industrial engineering, and automotive engineering. It will also help several research groups in the engineering field.

Both Salesian professors also visited the University of Reims, in France, where they agreed on the new work the research groups from both universities would perform on GiMatT and GRESPI. These two higher education centers are currently working on two research projects which include international internships.

This type of inter institutional agreements and training contribute to Universidad Politecnica Salesiana´s technological, research, and teacher development which in the end benefits its mechanical, mechatronics, and automotive engineering students.

Jorge Fajardo Seminario and Luis Marcelo López said their visit to these two institutions was very important because they learned about the latest technology being used to build these machines as well as the way the University of Reims operates.
