Seminar on scientific updates and principles of telemedicine

Universidad Politécnica Salesiana and its Electronic Engineering major held a seminar on Scientific Updates and Principles of Telemedicine that was conducted by Professor Mónica Huerta, PHD in Communications, from Venezuela. Professor Huerta is part of the PROMETEO program and has been conducting research at ESPE Cotopaxi since August 2013.

Professor Huerta thoroughly explained the progress and the challenges of telemedicine, and how this progress has helped medicine.

The seminar allowed participants and researchers that intend to work in this field to learn about the guidelines of research on telemedicine, the use of new concepts, techniques, reasons, regulations, possible means, and above all the motives behind Telemedicine.

They were also able to assess the progress of telemedicine, learn about patient care, determine the process of data control in telemedicine systems, formulate research lines that are applicable in the region, and establish guidelines to arrange a research group on telemedicine.

At the end of the seminar, teachers, researchers, students, alumni, and overall public were satisfied with content since they were able to update and increase their knowledge on telemedicine.

Finally, authorities of the Electronic Engineering major said that UPS is committed to having these types of events so students, alumni, teachers, and administrative staff from universities in the region are trained and able to identify research priorities that meet the needs of society.
