UPS and MIES signed an inter-institutional agreement

Universidad Politécnica Salesiana-Cuenca and the Ministry of Economic and Social Inclusion (MIES)-Cuenca signed an inter-institutional agreement that will allow the creation of a multisensory room and software, plus the support of UPS for new business ventures.

Fanny Cárdenas, director of MIES in Cuenca, said that this type of agreement will enable both institutions to provide people with quality services. People will benefit from technological and social research conducted by UPS. She added that this is one of several agreements to come; the agreements are aimed to help disabled people at centers being sponsored by MIES.

Irene Redeña, coordinator of a center for disabled people, said this agreement will enable the development of software that will evaluate the center in order to design a complete plan for its members. Additionally, the multisensory room will be of great help to treat people.

Luis Tobar Pesántez, Universidad Politécnica Salesiana Vice President, said the university is aware of the fact that one of its responsibilities is to be involved with society and support the growth of institutions that serve people with disabilities. He added that all research being conducted by students along with their professors is aimed at helping people with disabilities.

At the end of the event, Freddy Ricardo Quintuña Barbecho and Karen Tatiana Méndez Zapata, both students, presented a video showing what the multisensory room will look like.
