On the 3rd and 4th of June, environmental engineering students from the university's branch in Cuenca held an Eco-camping field trip to the lake of Busa located in San Fernando in order to commemorate World Environment Day.

32 students and their professor Estefanía Aviles said the aim of this activity is to strengthen ecotourism which seeks to preserve and appreciate the environment. 

Professor Aviles said they wanted to students to carry out activities to preserve and recover natural areas. "Eco-tourism seeks to integrate the conservation of ecosystems and entertainment. We have real natural laboratories to study ecolog but they must deserve to be visited and they should give people the opportunity to be entertained and renew ones spirit", she said. 

Shirley Feijoo, said "The services that we can get from ecosystems are innumerable, we must make use them sustainably".

Prior their visit, they will present projects and proposals to the municipality of San Fernando. "We want to begin  a study on ecosystem load capacity", said Geovany Apolo.
