The university's environmental engineering major took part in several activities organized by the Ministry of the Environment in Cuenca. 13 members of the environmental engineering group- IEA- participated in a bike riding event and in a forum during a visit from the Ministry of the environment Daniel Ortega.

The aim of these activities was to have up close talk with the minister, who answered questions regarding pollution in the city, mining projects and the ministry's actions to reduce the impact of these activities.

Geovana Alvarado, coordinator of the group, said that this year the aim is to comply with the planning and development of a flagship project that will position the group on top of the rest of ASU associations, related to environmental quality in the city of Cuenca
