Father Marcelo Farfan was sworn in as the Inspector of Salesians in Ecuador for the 2023 – 2029 period, he will also be the chancellor of Universidad Politecnica Salesiana. During the ceremony, Father Fransisco Sanchez, outgoing inspector, said “you are now called to be a father, a teacher and a friend for everyone”.

Mass was presided by Father Jugo Orozco and attended by salesian priests, nuns, students, directors and representatives of of salesian institutions.

Father Orozco thanked Father Marcelo and stated that his work is based on service for the salesian congregation. “The mission is to announce God’s love for humanity and encourage people to follow his teachings”, he said.

He also said that “salesians inspire service for others, especially the most vulnerable people. We are inspired by Don Bosco, who believed we can improve people’s lives through education”.

Father Marcelo said “God has trusted me since my missionary work and during all these years of service for the university. I discovered the university to be a great path to young people; I invite you all to look at the future and be positive. Experience has taught me not to trust our plans entirely, but to be systematic and pedagogical. Together with salesians and young students we will discover what God, through Don Bosco, has planned for us”.
