FIDAL, a Foundation for the integration and the development of Latin America, works to improve the quality of education in our country, through its National Competition of Educational Excellence it wants to optimize education in our country and boost teachers' self-confidence.

The Competition which is supported by UPS, the National Financial Corporation (CFN), (UNICEF), Municipio de Guayaquil, and other universities is aimed at improving education by strengthening research in all public and private, urban and rural education institutions. 

The main goals are to optimize educational excellence nationwide and have international recognition. This will strengthen education and consolidate democracy, it will create ecological awareness and sustainable development in Ecuador and Latin America.

Rosalia Arteage, who leads the foundation, said that taking part in the competition is very meaningful, and shows that people are taking the first steps towards improving education in the country.

The eight competition, which was held this year, awarded teachers for their work in the following categories:

-    Innovative projects in technology

-    Research on education topics

-    Actions that favor pluralism

-    Diversity, inclusion and community organization

-    Curriculum design and pedagogical trends

UPS President Father Javier Herran said "the work done by FIDAL is a priority becuase foundation usually work with structures and materials, but it is fundamental that teachers have the skills to use technology in favor of a better education"

UPS supports the foundation by awarding teachers a scholarship so that they can strengthen their knowledge and their work in schools around the country. FIDAL publically thanked the university for its support in the following video:
