The university held the first edition of UPS Research Awards; an event that acknowledges professors’ and students’ contribution to scientific production and pays tribute to the university’s overall performance. 

The event was attended was university officials, professors, students, researchers and special guests from our three branch campuses, Cuenca, Quito and Guayaquil. Juan Cardenas, UPS president, said this was a great opportunity to award researchers for their work and publications. 

There were several areas awarded at the ceremony, such as scientific production, leadership, research groups, books, collaborative work between professors, students and researchers; research projects, and more. 

Scientific production at the university is the result of hard work and effort carried out by our researchers that make up 84 research groups, all of which seek to have a positive impact on society. There are currently 500 professors – researchers, over 2,600 students who are part of the 84 research groups, an annual growth of 20 – 25% in scientific production and joint work with companies and industries.
