Five new labs in our branch campus in Cuenca will promote research and improve education

Our branch campus in Cuenca inaugurated five new top of the line labs that have been designed to strengthen students’ hands on practice in different areas. Some of the labs are the only ones of their kind in the country and will provide the most advanced tools students will need to become professionals.
• Electrical Protection Lab: The first and only one in Ecuador with the capacity to emulate the national electrical system, allowing for real-time simulations with cutting-edge technology.
• Mechatronic Systems Lab: Specialized in artificial intelligence, intelligent inspection and 5.0 Industry. It encourages cooperation between humans and machines, key to the future of automation.
• Design, Animation and 3D Modeling Lab: Equipped with high-performance computers, touch screens and 3D printing, this laboratory provides students advanced tools to develop skills in multimedia design and information and communication technologies (ICT).
• Microbiology Lab: With nationally certified technology, it strengthens research in areas such as health, biotechnology and the environment, which will contribute to scientific progress in Ecuador.
• Tribology and Fuels Lab: Equipped with state-of-the-art tools, it analyzed lubricants and fuels, improving efficiency and sustainability in industrial processes.
During the inauguration ceremony, Father Juan Cardenas, UPS president, blessed the new labs. Professors and university officials stressed the importance of these labs for the academic progress of students, and spoke about the university’s role in the training highly qualified professionals.
