Our branch campus in Quito, “El Giron” campus held a graduation ceremony for 297 students who successfully ended their undergraduate programs in business administration, management and leadership, accounting and auditing, biotechnology, psychology, communication, philosophy, intercultural bilingual education, pedagogy, early education and basic education. 

 

Another ceremony was also held for 170 students in “Sur” campus. They graduated from electronics engineering, mechanical engineering, civil engineering, environmental engineering, electrical engineering and computer science engineering. 

 

The ceremonies were attended by Juan Cardenas, UPS president; Maria Sol Villagomez, vice president our university’s campus in Quito; Fernando Pesantez, general vice president; Floralba Aguilar, academic coordinator professors and directors.

 

UPS president Juan Cardenas stated that “A graduation ceremony represents the result of effort, an opportunity to recognize dreams, to appreciate perseverance.” Maria Sol Villagomez said “we must think about our purpose in the world, think about how we have been affected by the pandemic and sociopolitical situations…” 


 
Samantha Abigail Romero Burbano, Antonella Sarahi Tapia Pozo, Christian Adrián Castillo, Lissette Carolina Guerrero Arias and Jessica Estefanía Álvarez, spoke on behalf of all the graduates.

 

The following graduates were awarded recognition certificates for being part of the university’s salesian groups: María Fernanda Segovia Pullaguari, Jefferson Flores Bravo del Coro, Yadira Álvarez, Diego Fernando Eras, Lizeth Carolina Guerrero, Gisel Catalina Ramos, María Belén Reinoso, María Isabel Paucar and Denis Alejandro Álvarez.

 

Maria Fernanda Mediavilla, a student with hearing impairment who majored in basic education, and Valeria Analuiza, a student with visual impairment who majored in psychology; also graduated with the support of the university’s UNESCO’s chairs program assistive technologies for inclusive education.
