Inauguration of the 6th International Seminar "IUS Education Group"

Our branch campus in Quito inaugurated the 6th International Seminar "IUS Education Group" with the participation of university officials and researchers from 22 salesian universities from America, Asia and Europe. 


Juan Cardenas, UPS president, welcomed everyone to the event and stated that it represents an opportunity to analyze, discuss and rethink salesian education. “Today, salesian institutions have met to discuss a university model that focuses on people first, that promotes critical capacities and sustainability, capable of working together to face common challenges”, he said.


Oscar Lozano, general coordinator of IUS (Salesian Higher Education institutions), said the institutions are committed to working together and evolving.


Maria Sol Villagomez, vice president of our branch campus in Quito and coordinator of the IUS Education Group, spoke about the creation of the group and stated that it is a network of work, research, exchange and academic cooperation between salesian universities around the world. 


Mario Olmos, from El Salvador, general coordinator of IUS America, stressed that this network allows to us to think about salesian education internationally and provide solutions. 


The opening ceremony was in charge of Miguel Angel Garcia, who spoke about current educational challenges in salesian education.


Alejandro Rodriguez, representative of the Institute of Salesian Studies in the United States, presented the talk titled “Motivated teachers for an appropriate learning environment”. Anna Pileri, Michela Drusian, from Instituto Universitario Salesiano Venecia, Juan Sabino López and Marian García from CES Don Bosco, Spain, and Roberto Santoro from the  Instituto Universitario Salesiano Torino, Italy, presented the topic: Sustainability and interculturality.
