Caterina Bertolini, Ambassador of Italy in Ecuador, visited our branch campus in Cuenca, she was accompanied by Andrea Rapido Ragozzino, consul, and Augusto Tosi, consul correspondant. 

They were welcomed by UPS president Juan Cardenas; Fernando Pesantez, general vice president; Juan Pablo Salgado, head of research; Diego Peñaloza, head of postgraduate programs; and Bernardo Salgado, head of international relations.

For about one hour they spoke about the university's ties with Italy, since it is where Don Bosco was born and where he started his work.

The Ambassador stated that she took office 18 months ago and that she was eager to come to Cuenca to visit the university and acknowledge it on behalf of her country, as well as plan different projects in which they can work together. UPS has several Italian teachers and also around 10 professors are studying their PhD in Italian universities.

The visit ended with the commitment to continue holding meetings to develop activities and projects that benefit society.
