Marissa Malla, a biotechnology student at UPS-Cuenca, won the 2015 singing competition which was held in the university theater last Friday.

Before starting the competition, UPS President Javier Herrán wished all the participants the best of luck and congratulated them on preparing so well. The competition started with Pablo Déleg, then came Rickie Romero, Michael Landa, María Gabriela Montalvo, Karla Álvarez, Juan Carlos Pesántez, Marissa Malla, Karen Arias, Mario Patricio Llerena, Dian Belén Pérez and Daniel Quintuña 

The jury, which was made up by Vanessa Regalado, Luis Abad and Pablo Marin, picked the winners; Marissa Malla, first place, Mario Llerena, second place and Pablo Deleg, third place. The music was played the university band led by Germán Narváez. 

The third place winner will have part of his tuition paid next semester, the second place winner gets 50% of his tuition paid, and the first place winner will pay no tuition next semester.
