The automotive engineering undergraduate program in our branch campus in Cuenca has acquired new technological equipment for students' hands on practice activities. This new equipment makes us the leading university in automotive engineering, which currently has 808 enrolled students.

Professors will soon be trained in the use of the new equipment. UPS president Juan Cardenas, the vice president of our branch campus in Cuenca, Fernando Moscoso, and Fabricio Espinoza, director of the automotive engineering undergraduate program, had a first look at the new equipment. The university president encouraged professors to continuously learn so they can then transmit new information to students.

The new equipment:

• Pressure sensor for the cylinder which analyzes high precision combustion for research, development, optimization and testing of ignition system engines, exhaust systems and valve control equipment and environmental contamination.

• Braking power test benches for kart engines: Characterization practices for the characteristic curves of diesel and gasoline engines.

• Vehicle braking test system used for brake tests and ABS tests in accordance with international standards ECE, ISO, FMSSV and SAE. The test system offers automated workflow, is flexible and robust, and is used for brake R&D.

• Shock Absorber Test Bench is a dynamometer that measures the traction and compression force of the shock absorber.
