UPS student Xavier Lascano participated in the finals of the "Retos Yachay Contest" with his project "ESTACIÓN METEOROLÓGICA AUTÓNOMA CON TRANSMISIÓN DE DATOS INALÁMBRICA EN 5GHZ 2X2 MIMO". The contest took place last January 18th in the Science, Entrepreneurship and Innovation Fair-INNOPOLIS 2015.

Xavier studies electronic engineering at UPS-Guayaquil, and his project was developed to collect meteorological data in specific areas of Ecuador. The prototype collects the data through temperature and humidity sensors and then it transmits the data to a computer so it can be monitored in real time.

Professors Javier Ortiz and Ricardo Cajo took part of conferences on mechanism, operation and demonstration of prototypes to present an innovative project that will support communities, the environment and the eco system.

To participate in the finals, which were held in Yachay, participants had to surpass several other research projects nationwide before being chosen to present their project.
