The architecture undergraduate program in our branch campus in Quito inaugurated a photography exhibition titled “Modernism in Ecuador”. The exhibition is the result of workshops of Bauhaus style taken by 31 students and 8 professors; The workshop was led by German photographer, Jean Molitor.

The inauguration was attended by Philipp Schauer, ambassador of Germany; Enrique Novas, coordinator of culture at Asociación Humbolt; Doris Andrade, director of the architecture undergraduate program; students, and general public.

“The inspiration behind each image, the care with which the photographs were selected and the visual narrative that unfolds in every corner of this exhibition leads us to reflect on the importance of architecture in our environment and its influence on everyday life”, said the director. Nicole Delgado, a student, thanked Jean Molitor on behalf of her classmates for the great experience.

Molitor is a modernist photographer who travels the world making photographic records of buildings in order to preserve the memory of cities. In the case of Quito, those attending the workshop toured streets to see buildings representative of the modern movement in Quito.

To organize this activity, the architecture undergraduate program was supported by the embassy of Germany, Asociación Humbolt, DOCOMOMO Ecuador, Colegio de Arquitectos del Ecuador (Pichincha) and Museo Archivo de Arquitectura del Ecuador.
