Our branch campus in Cuenca presented the fourth edition of the book “Don Bosco Dialoga con las Artes y las Ciencias.” Father Juan Cardenas, UPS president, welcomed everyone to the event. During the ceremony they presented the short film “El Saltimbanqui y el Vagabundo: un encuentro de risas y esperanza” produced by the ASU theater group with the help of children from the Don Bosco Oratory.
They also presented a play titled “Educación y Vocación”, which represented a conversation between Don Bosco and Dolores J, Torres, and an unexpected appearance of Charles Chaplin.
Fernando Pesantez, general vice president of UPS, presented the book and spoke about the value of its content and contribution to encourage a conversation between art and science. This edition of the book contains several imaginary conversations between Don Bosco and historic figures such as Napoleon Bonaparte, Nelson Mandela, Simone de Beauvoir, Pablo Picasso and Jimmy Hendrix about philosophy, art and science.
The book is the result of joint work between several authors, research groups and UNESCO chairs in our branch campus in Cuenca and the leadership of Juan Cardenas, Fernando Pesantez and Angel Torres.
