Our branch campus in Quito presented the book “Experiencias de Educación Superior Salesiana en América Latina, análisis sociohistórico / contextual” which was coordinated by UPS professor Blas Garzon and Hector Grenni from Universidad Don Bosco from El Salvador. The book contains stories from these universities, which were established from 1970 to 1998, and was published by the university’s Abya Yala Publishing House.

The event was attended by Maria Sol Villagomez, vice president of our branch campus in Quito, who gave the welcoming speech; Juan Fransisco Bagur, from Universidad Mesoamericana de Guatemala, who made a comment on the book; and Blas Garzon who spoke about the joint work with the authors. Cesar Alarcon, director of the National Academy of Ecuadorian History; and Diego Moscoso, assistant director of the National Academy of Ecuadorian History; also attended.

The book is the result of the work carried out by eight professors from five institutions that are part of the Higher Education Salesian Institutions Network, such as Universidad Salesiana de México UNISAL, Universidad Don Bosco El Salvador, Universidad Católica Silva Henríquez de Chile, Universidad Politecnica Salesiana (UPS) and Universidad Salesiana de Bolivia.

The authors of the book are Sara Sánchez, Héctor Grenni, Pablo Solórzano, Nelson Rodríguez, Blas Garzón, Edgar Loyola, Rafael Campoverde and Ana Cristina Huanca.

Mario Olmos, president of Universidad Don Bosco from El Salvador, stressed the importance of preserving these institution’s history, especially since they share a similar mission.
