The university presented the book “La Laguna de los Sueños” written by Father Antonio Polo. The book was published by the university’s Abya Yala publishing house. The following people attended the event: Ángel Lazo, Juan Cárdenas, Alexandro Tonello, Andrea Rapido, María Sol Villagómez, Milagros Aguirre, Luis Álvarez, and people who have been part of his projects, such as Corporación Salinerito.

Gonzalo Ortiz, a sociologist, journalist and professor; and Beppi Tonello, founding partner of Corporación Salinerito, were the commentators of the book. Juan Cardenas, UPS President, stated that “the university is honored to present a book which makes us think about the value of community service with salesian charisma. It is a book that represents a project to serve the community and help meet people’s needs through employment.”
 

Gonzalo Ortiz explained that “Antonio has a very special writing style, he writes about his early days, his salesian education and how he has contributed to the growth of Salinas. Everyone should read the book in order to understand how a community can develop based on sustainable economy.”

Tonello, founding partner of Corporación Salinerito, stated that “La Laguna de los Sueños is located in Salinas and that it is a great place to pray and observe nature. Antonio Polo came from Italy and ran into a place that made him have a dream, he found a country full of great people and resources. Once he was here, he met Candido Rada who helped him assist people because poverty, illiteracy and the lack of opportunities were visible.”
