The interdisciplinary work of psychology

Psychology students from our branch campus in Cuenca took part in the talk: "The role of a clinical psychologist in an interdisciplinary team", which was led by a group of women professionals in the field of child development and teamwork planning.

Victoria Alvear, Patricia Andrade and Fabiola Quinde, psychologists at the Centro de Atención Psicopedagógica Infantil (CAPI), presented some strategies and their experiences in this field.

Interdisciplinary work in child development refers to the doctrine that professionals use cooperatively and interactively to analyze the comprehensive behavior of a child from various areas such as: social, emotional and educational, which are based on and involve factors such as intervention groups, teachers, students and parents.

They explained that in their profession several related disciplines come together, such as Clinical Psychology, Phonology, Special Education, Language Therapy, Neuropsychology, Pedagogy, and others; areas which present a more complete and specific diagnosis.
