The fifth edition of Café Utopía addressed the issue of the new role of museums in society

Last May 22nd the fifth edition of Café Utopía addressed the issue of "The new role of museums in society" in the Silvio Broseghini Auditorium with the support of Universidad Politécnica Salesiana and the Salesian group ASU – UTOPÍA.

Carolina Navas, representative of the Museo de la Ciudad and Nataly Orbe from the Museo Etnográfico Abya Yala attended this event which started at 5:30pm. The aim of the talk was to highlight the work museums have done to preserve historical knowledge and the new roles that they currently have for the benefit of society and the dissemination of knowledge.

Museums were acknowledged as places to interact, to get involved with communities, to deliberate, and as places to reflect on political, economic, social, cultural, and environmental issues. People also talked about its role as an agent of change and social action.
