The play “Manuela, el Brillo de Libertad” was presented by “REMCI”, a group made up of women from Universidad Politécnica Salesiana, Universidad de Cuenca, Universidad Católica de Cuenca, Universidad del Azuay and Universidad Nacional de Educación. The event was organized to commemorate international women’s day. The play was presented to boys and girls in rural schools in Cuenca. 

The play told stories of professors from the participating universities; professors Elizabeth Narea and Paola Duque, from our branch campus in Cuenca, had their stories told during the play. The aim was to encourage boys and girls by having real life stories.

 
REMCI is made up of women from several branches of science; they periodically organize these events to strengthen the role of Ecuadorian women in science. In addition, it seeks to promote scientific work and increase its participation and recognition in Ecuador and the world.
