Students from the university's salesian groups in Guayaquil visited the areas in the city of Portoviejo which were affected by the earthquake that hit Manbi on April 16.

The aim of their visit was to create activities for children as well as their moms who are currently living in a shelter, "the idea comes from our President, who ordered the groups to use the resources which they had been planning to use for the national meeting in order to help people affected by the earthquake" said Juan Jose Rocha.

There were games, there was dancing and they also helped children make a mother's day card. According to Juan Rocha, the aim of the groups is to fulfil the university's mission statement. "It's not only about educating excellent professionals, it's about helping society, mainly in difficult times such as now" he said.
