The Free Software Group (El Grupo Académico de Software Libre (GASOL) in Guayaquil held a meeting to discuss disabilities and socialize the use of free software in the field of education, for professionals and other fields.

During this meeting there were about 30 groups that participated including the Information and Communication Technologies for disabilities-(TICAD (Grupo de Investigación de Tecnologías De Información y Comunicación Asociadas a Discapacidad). "The participants are students majoring in computer engineering, they presented projects that support the autonomy of people with disabilities", said Alice Naranjo.

In addition, they addressed topics concerning mobile and home automation applications. "the applications developed by students use various tools like JAVA, PHP, MySQL, Android operating system and hardware of free use like Arduino and Raspberry pi", said Naranjo.

The aim of the event is for students to showcase their projects which will help improve the quality of life of people with disabilities. "We have different software that support people with hearing, visual, and language problems" said the director of the Gasol group.
