Students majoring in industrial engineering in our branch campus in Guayaquil went on a field trip to “ADELCA”, a steel company located in Milagro, to learn more about the production and recycling processes in the company.

Daniel Caamaño, professor, explained the professional and academic benefits of having field trips; “our students prepare to design and improve production processes, so this visit enables them to acquire the knowledge they need and complement the theoretical part they already know.”

Jorge Cedeño, industrial engineering student, stressed the importance of visiting a company that is environmentally friendly and innovative. Its continuous improvement benefits everyone because it reduces time and make production processes more effective”, he said.

Students learned about several processes such as: the process of recyclable, non-recyclable, hazardous waste and legal compliance with standards established by the Ministry of the Environment. Francisco Sánchez Muñoz, Management Manager at ADELCA, said "the university is doing a very good job at bringing students to the plant, this helps them get excited about their career and prepares them for professional life."
