Talk: People and intercultural disputes in the city

EVENTO Presencial TIPO Académico Quito lunes, 17 julio 2017

UPS invites you to attend the talk “People and intercultural disputes in the city”, organized by the management of local sustainable development undergraduate program, the State and Development Research Group, the Trabajo Gente Group and intercultural communities from the city; with the support of Universidad Central del Ecuador.

The aim of this event is to approximate the academic community and social leaders to urban problems (Thesis of Harvey and Robles Duran), whose perspectives are necessary and urgent to rethink the present and the future of cities and the processes of territorial organization.

The talk will be led by international speakers David Harvey and Miguel Robles Durán. Dr. Harvey is one of the most important academic geographers in the world. He analyzes the processes of urbanism, social inequality and the problems associated with housing, ghettos, rent theory, gentrification, among others, from a leftist perspective.

Professor Miguel Robles-Durán focuses on the strategic definition of civic engagement platforms and coordinates transdisciplinary urban projects around cities.
