The computer science undergraduate program in our branch campus in Cuenca has been accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET). The accreditation is the result of 2 year’s hard work and dedication from the university and its team of professionals.

 

ABET is a non-governmental organization with over 80 years’ experience recognized worldwide for being one of the most prestigious agencies that accredits university programs. So far, it has accredited 4,564 programs in 895 institutions from 40 different countries. 

 

The validity of the accreditation will last 6 years, from August 31st 2023 to September 30th 2029, which will guarantee continuous commitment to have the highest education quality standards.  
 

During the accreditation process, the computer science program was evaluated based on eight fundamental criteria from ABET: student performance, program educational objectives, student outcomes, continuous improvement, curriculum, faculty members, facilities and institutional support. 

 

The committee in charge of this important process at the university was made up of several permanent members, we would like to stress the work carried out by Jennifer Yépez, Gabriel León, Jairo Sacoto, Marcelo Flores, Remigio Hurtado, Bertha Tacuri and Germán Parra. It was also made up of temporary members who provided their experience during the process: Vladimir Robles, Rodolfo Bojorque, Roberto García, Andrea Plaza and Pablo Torres.

 

The international accreditation will provide students majoring in computer science at our university important benefits, it guarantees global standards in computer science and provides them a solid education lo lead innovation and face current and future technological challenges. Furthermore, it gives students better employability opportunities in companies that value education in accredited programs. 

 

This achievement strengthens the university’s commitment to academic excellence and educating highly capable and competitive professionals at an international level.
